Brayton Energy is equipped to handle development programs from the white board / concept stage through production of prototypes and design and implementation of manufacturing processes. Our facilities include a 10,000 ft engineering building, including an assembly and inspection area, manufacturing and prototyping shop, and two laboratories dedicated to testing. In late 2009, Brayton is opening a new 15,000 sq ft recuperator manufacturing center in an adjacent building.
Our manufacturing and prototyping shop is equipped with precision metal working machine tools, plasma cutters, and welding equipment. Our assembly area is equipped with the highest quality inspection equipment.

Test facilities: Brayton takes exceptional pride in our test programs. Our purpose-built data acquisition systems are maintained to achieve efficient and accurate data collection. We maintain an extensive inventory of calibrated pressure transducers and flow meters.
  • Combustion Laboratories: Brayton maintains two well equipped and highly specialized combustion test facilities:
    • High Pressure – high inlet temperature unvitiated combustor rig
    • Low pressure – solid fuel combustion rig and laboratory
    • Other combustion equipment

Coordinate Measuring Machines
Brayton Energy invests heavily in state-of-the-art measuring tools in order to maintain exceptional quality assurance. From the early stages of inspection to the final stages of configuration management, Brayton’s test facilities promise the most advanced level of precision.

High Pressure Gas Turbine Combustor Facility

Our recuperated gas turbine test rig is distinguished by our capability to deliver pre-heated fresh-air to the test combustors at very high pressure and flow.  Some of the general specifications are listed below.

Atmospheric Biomass Combustion Laboratory

Our solid bio-fuel combustion lab is equipped with combustor preheater and a versatile solid fuel delivery system.  The general capacities ate tabulated below.

Other combustion facilities

Liquid spray nozzle/injector  analysis

Brayton maintains dedicated test rig to analyze liquid droplet spray angle and droplet characteristics. Our rig is used to perform CFD validation experiments.

Emission analysis

Brayton maintains equipment to accurately measure the combustion gases.  Our equipment has been certified for use by the California Air Resources Board (CARB)
